Hmnnn..With all the tribulations going on in the world right now, Isis, the ebola epidemic, police brutality etc......It is heartwarming to see and share something like this..... If you do not know the story, here is a segment from the News....Monday, October 06, 2014 Even though the Cincinnati Bengals lost to the New England Patriots 43-17 on Sunday night's NFL game, Devon Still had a huge personal victory with the help of the Patriots' cheerleading squad. Still, 25, has been making headlines over the past few months after the Cincinnati Bengals added the tackle to their practice squad, enabling the player to still get health insurance to take care of his four-year-old daughter's cancer treatment. Bengals and NFL fans have been incredibly supportive of Still's daughter's struggle, and now the New England Patriots' cheerleading squad showed their support by donning jerseys of the Bengals' player in Sunday's game. Still was incredibly appreciative of the gesture, as this image captured by a Twitter user showed the player with gracious tear streaming down his cheek.

A few months ago we shared & celebrated our Black History month, and shortly after that we celebrated Black music month, and today-Well today I am just gonna speak on being Black, not African American,Negroe, or colored...I mean Black see as I was growing up, we went through those different stages and Black ( ha ha) was where it was at- I digress. Black is the most misunderstood color. A black tie dinner is very formal and elegant. Women can wear that "must have little black dress" to the black tie dinner. Yet the bad guys wear black hats. Black symbolizes death in some cultures. Native Americans thought black was good because it was the color of soil, which gives life. Yet I have come to notice in recent years that we as a people are falling back into a trap that should have been gone forty or fifty years ago. We as a people have been called many things: we have been called Negro, African, Colored, Black and now African American. But let’s keep it real. I feel that you are reading the words, but you are not feeling me. Are you feeling me?Well allright then! The only time we refer to ourselves as African American is when we are writing a paper for call or putting something in the newspaper for the most part we call ourselves Black. Use of the term “black” dates to the 1960s and 1970s and the civil rights movement. The Black Power movement advocated strongly for the use of “black” to replace the outdated “negro,” and many Americans of African ancestry started to embrace the term. Others preferred “Afro American,” an early blending of “African” and “American.” In the 1980s, “African American” began to see common usage, and the term quickly became very popular. But Most People I Know Still use Black.

Listen up People If you are holding on to something that doesn’t belong to you and it was never intended for your life, then you need to….. Give it up & Turn it loose…………!!! If you are holding on to past hurts and pains….Give it up & Turn it loose !!! If someone can’t treat you right, love you back and see your worth…Give em up and Turn em loose !!! If someone has angered you…..Give em up and Turn em loose !!! If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge….Give it up and turm em loose !!! If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction…..Give it up and turn it loose !!! If you are holding on to a job that longer meets your needs or talents…..Yep! you know…Give it up and turn it loose !!! If you have a bad attitude……Turn it loose!!! If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better…..Turn it loose If you’re stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him……give it up and tuen it loose If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship…Give it up and turn it loose !!! if you keep trying to help someone who won’t even try to help themselves…..Give em up and tuen em loose !!! If you’re feeling depressed and stressed…Turn it loose !!! If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying “take your hands off of it,” then you need to……Give it up and turn it loose !!! Let the past be the past…..Forget the former things…..GOD is doing a new thing sooooo GIVE IT UP AND DO WHAT? Yes,that’s right Turn it loose……….

Lord Help Me

LORD HELP ME Lord help me Because today…I am on my way to my purpose and it is there that I will discover the capacity in which I intend to serve But I got to be mindful of every detail of my journey because clues are hidden along the way Lord help me because I have to take note of all my slips and falls my bruised knees cuts and scrapes the lessons I learned and the the traps I escaped Lord help me Help me to be aware of the wolves in sheep’s clothing and to not judge people by my perceptions of self help me lord..help me to be more patient, help me to be more kind help me to not think of myself as wise cause I finally realize that this is when we are most blind I know I have to realize that the discovery is in the journey itself Not the destination I seek. I learned a long time ago to let go of the anger and rage Those thangs only held me captive and hindered my walk as if I was in a cage Lord Help Me

A Gospel Mix

There has been much debate over Christian rap. I am a stern supporter of it. My personal beliefs are that if this genre brings you a higher level of conscious then great. There are those that profess that these men and women are just pimping the system. I agree that in all areas you have the wolf in sheep clothing from the pastor to the deacon. These people will have to account for their misrepresentation.

Lift me up

Good Morning, We all have had those moments where we have emotionally fallen and needed help of some sort to be lifted up. Upon sort of a rough weekend, The loss of a dear dear friend, and setting the record straight with a family member. I needed that lift... The things that we are faced with in our lives are counter to how we began in our mother’s wombs. We go from a safe protective environment to chaos. Then we spend the rest of our lives trying to find that peace again. We have so little control over our external and sometimes even our internal lives, that we are frustrated, and angry. People deal with injustice, racism, economic hardship, abuse, low wages, war, global warming, just to name a few. We are uncertain most of the time, sometimes unaware of what to do, and worried about if we will make it through. We deal with physical, emotional, and psychological issues everyday. The only thing we can do to counter “falling down” is to “lift up” our spirits. Life is not going to change, the issues you face today will probably be their tomorrow, and if not I’m sure they will be replaced with other issues, so with that in mind “relax.” Find the one thing or things that make you feel at peace or close enough to it. There are so many different things one can do to relax. Here are just a few in no particular order: • Listen to music • Meditate • Practice yoga • Play sports • Go to the movies/plays/musicals • Take dance classes • Attend church • Spend time with family • Keep in touch with friends • Take a cruise • Go camping • Go fishing • Exercise • Read a good book • Just sit out in the yard on a nice sunny day and admire nature Unfortunately life is full of many hardships. That does not mean that you have to accept them, but you must face the fact that they are and will be there. However, that also does not mean that you have to let them push you over the edge. Let us take our cue from the writer of the Serenity Prayer, Reinhold Niebuhr. I’m sorry, but I have taken the liberty to alter the prayer to include those who do not believe in religion, so everyone can realize that this prayer can ground anyone. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that I will make all things right And never surrender to its ills; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy forever in the next. Remember keep yourself from falling down by keeping your spirits lifted up.

I am a Christian, and I will profess that loudly. I will also say that I am not one of those holier than thou Christians. I’m in the struggle just like the rest of y’all. I will not preach to you, but I will deliver messages, that I hope will help and heal and if it brings you closer…..Cool! I have met many along my journey, and those that I have the most respect for are those that truly represented what they were about. The people in the world and those that were in the word. It is because of this one individual Rest in Love Linda K. That I am this way today, this woman did not preach her beliefs, she lived them. I have been blessed ( although I did not recognize it) to be on this earth for a great number of years. I have seen much and done it to the full (good and bad) I am not here to talk about the bad though. My testimonials are sprinkled here and there through my musings, and for those interested/astute enough can ascertain. I hope you find S.W.A.G. enlightening, entertaining as well as uplifting.
